I am alive with the glory of love

Life has been weird lately, I had strep throat in the time I was gone, and have started a new project and gotten back into the swing of using my tablet on TegakiE. I guess I'll just start there.

I'm not one of those amazing people on tegakie that can whip shit out that looks like an oil painting, but I mess around.

I did this after I finished my final copy of 3 pages from Perder El Sitio my adaption of Finito's story in Ernest Hemingway's For Whom The Bell Tolls.

And much more.

I've been mucking around the RP's a lot.

My project though is not going to be posted here at least until it's done. It's a storybook/artbook for my mom using my own story and found objects. Just a momento for her because she never sees me anymore.

As for doodles, these are the few I found lying around:

Starting to realize Matador and Marvolus are a lot like the two main characters in Of Mice And Men.

A pic for my good buddy Seth who publishes the Zine Souled Out I've been trying to be better about sending him stuff.

Bambi and my 6th Period World History Teacher Ryan Swarts.

Funny shit.

Lastly, my interpretation of James Gatz (Gatsby) from The Great Gatsby. It's one of my favorite books and I really would love to make a comic out of it one day.

That's all for now. I'm sorta in a rush right now so I will give a better update later, sorry for the hiatus!

Still sick. Also TegakiE.

I'm really sick and sorta feeling like my head is being crushed by the weight around my ears, but I got my tablet back from my boyfriend and have been hitting up TegakiE more than ever.

I've said it before, I'm not really huge into digital art and so forth, but It's still fun to bug around with (Especially when most of my copics are dead/dying) I was in a X-men mood today I guess...

Link to My TegakiE is in the links section. I want to get back into RPing there just because it's great for passing the time. I REALLY want to join the TF2 group but they are really legit and don't have Apps open a lot.

I need to find another group that is pretty balanced and actually has people who can draw in it.

In desperate need of a restorative coma. Later.

Sac Anime Super Sassy Success

Now that I have your attention...

Yes. Super Sassy Success. We faced Sickness, even boredom, but it was definitely a good experience.

Started out good and early on Friday. Me and Alex where the only ones there until Natalie showed in the evening, until than I had the whole table to myself and was mostly amusing myself with the crowd and the cosplayers. I had my phone charms up for sale, my portfolio to look at with the majority of my colored works inside, my old Black and White Prints from last November up for 3 bucks, and the promise of candy and super sticky notes to passerby.

Alex wore my Szayel cosplay on friday because he was amused by the wig and wanted to look sassy fabulous.

Blurry Yoko Copter!!!!

Pikminlink stopped at our table for the Sac Anime Mascot contest. Natalie wanted to show her appreciation by making her a sign that didn't show up on camera.

If you're not familiar with Pikminlink, she pretty much IS link, best Legend of Zelda cosplayer I have seen (Other than Chris Simmer, but he's a good thousand feet tall)

Photo taken from her Deviantart. She has a website as well.

And just so we all know, this is Chris.

He also makes a mean master chief.

Saturday was a lot of drawings and bumming about. Alex got his Dio Brando cosplay and strutted about while I sold things here and there. He got a few good pictures taken from other people. I did a whole bunch of little sketches from, what else, Naked Matador stories.

Oh the joys of Papermate pens.
They have finally started selling "So Ronery" pillows in Vendor Rooms at Anime Conventions. I am both intrigued and mortified.
Sunday was cool because I got a lot of silly little commissions that added up. Saturday I got to complete a page in a girl's sketch book that was themed around the far east and japan shit, so I forked out Opus wearing a crane kimono for her. This older lady who may mention me on her blog had a pair of pants running around that were all about doodles. Me being myself, I drew Matador on her seam.

But I wasn't the only one doing mad commissions, Brandon Mckinney showed up at the convention, for those of whom who are too lazy to check that hyperlink, he's a storyboard artist that has most likely worked on something you like.

I commissioned him to turn these:

into this:

And I blew my damn load because Matador looks so Sassy, and Marvolus is so Dapper.

He was impressed by my stuff and gave me some great advice as far as continuing art goes. I am really happy I met him, and even more so, for going on Sunday at all because I felt sick. It was worth it, mos def.

As for wicked cosplayers. This probably took the top, just because I didn't get the chance to show you the jesus cosplayer with the wolfwood cross.

I'll be here, watching my deviantart get massive spams of new watchers now. Thanks to everyone who came to the table or bought something! I hope you are enjoyed yourself at the con!

The obvious New Years Post & More

I am back in Cali again! Second Semester has started up again as well, and this time around I'm going to give it a good shot. This is where I need to start getting serious as far as grades go... so far, I think I'm doing good. It's only 4 days in, but I'm off to a good start.

I found this on my walk home today as well...

I strayed off the beaten path and came into a seemingly fern gully existence...

It might not seem like a lot to you, but after almost a week now of living in the glass house of cheerleaders and cardboard people whining about what their parent's didn't give them for christmas; I was stunned to find that Rocklin had something to offer me other than a shopping mall. It's really beautiful, very lush and green and literally just a little pathway off of the hill where I walk home... Sorry... just planning my secret garden...

This is probably one of the best works I've done in the last six months as far as a copic-coloring goes. It's taken from an old Marlboro magazine ad, but instead of The Wild West, I chose a theme closer to the Civil War. It's got loads of just rich intensity and will be shown with the rest of my image displays at Sac-Anime. My portfolio is just about 50 of my best works including some fan art, commissions, and pieces I've won contests with.

Going back to that whole troubled youth thing, I created this in art yesterday. Distressed Shark Head Kid. Click his head to make him grow.

And... yeah. Probably the best picture of Matador I've done in a LONG time. I have a very hard time actually capturing what he looks like in my mind because he's just so goddamn difficult to express. I've realized as of late that Matador's facial structure is almost identical to Jean Claude Van Damme, although matador isn't nearly as built.

>_>

On a completely unrelated note, Marvolus's celebrity self is that of Ioan Gruffud.

Just a little blonder and it's pretty much exactly how it is in my head...

I imagine them as people, not comic book characters.

In any case, I'll try to post on Friday night of Sac Anime, if not, for sure you'll catch me after the con. Look for me!

The Gang Moves On:

Only about 3 months late. Oh well.

Naked Matador Stories: Manifest Destiny: Chapter 2: Ascension

Oh, it's not done. No.
Only a few pages...

Sorry world. It's a long story.

But in short hand it's this; So I get home, with some Ascension pages that have been done about 3 months ago, some just started, and feel the urge to finish it, right? So I whip this sit out like crazy, it's not a nicely finished as it could be and there are some really squiffy looking word bubbles (Never do drafts in cursive then go over them in a regular print, seriously) and I scan them in. Yeah! Ready for a cleaning in photoshop and uploading, right?

I've been using Web Comics Nation to host it, and it's a pretty decent site. Indy and sorta broken, but it works. I link it and people can read my shit, however bloated and nasty it looks on the screen.

So today it stopped accepting my username and password...
I'm a one password, lots of usernames person, so I try everything that might work and then give up in a huff.
I'll take it down later, but for the moment, I'm just switching over to Comic Fury.
The interface is a lot better, I've sized everything down to a teensy 600px, and overall, it's just a lot more easy for the passive reader to navigate.

A Square 6 pages done, with at least 6 more on the way to wrap up chapter 2. The story seems to speed a long with the time that's been covered, but it will slow down dramatically in the next few bits. Hopefully the writing will improve too. It always comes last and always is cliche and silly, so I hope you'll forgive me.

Anyways. Ascension is half-done and posted to Comic Fury. You can also view the first chapter, The First Dream, as well.

Almost like a christmas present?

Review it!

Hal Jordan saves the day... again...

NEEEEEEGGGGGGGGH!

Nah, today was sweet. Everything was very perfect. Despite what December 19th has been in the past, today it dun' good.

Lots of other people there

As I found out after my first picture, pretty much everyone was doing licensed characters, mostly Batman and other DC sorta stuff.
This chick was doing a Mad Harley Quinn picture.

There was about 2 tables of just local artists there. One guy even brought in a big canvas and did a Jack Skellington acrylic painting.

We tried auctioning off the 200 dollar Harvey Dent masterpiece, but sometimes art is just pearls before swine.

After floating my first picture to the online webcam audience, I was commissioned to do Hal Jordan for a nice fellow in Texas named Don Smith. He paid a grand 30 dollars upfront for it, so I'm working hard so he gets his money's worth. Don's also the managing editor for Cosmic Book News. He hasn't seen my webcomic yet... but if it's good enough it might get some play on his website.

Not that I think Naked Matador Stories IS good enough yet... Not to put myself down, it's just sorta crappily spliced together with my work schedule and I don't have the time to sit down and churn out quality pages.

But nevertheless... publicity is good...

The finished Quinn! Isn't it great? Sold in seconds!

I think it was a great success. My Uncle George got me some display cases for my little phone charms for Sac-anime, and I got my table squared away with Jason Dube.

It's looking good over here! I just need to finish the picture for Don and maybe I should finish the next chapter of NMS...

No way to go but up...

Haha! Late review! Yes!

It was AMAZING guys. Seriously a fine fine work of disney art that will hopefully wash away all that Zach and Cody and Wizards of Waverly place business... If you have kids, take them to see this Mastuhpeece.

Disney is also making ANOTHER princess movie at the moment scheduled to come out sometime next year. It's supposed to be hand drawn, but made to look like it's on glass or something... I don't remember the details, but it's Rupunzel.

So the, uh, game plan. Right.

I got a nice little invite to a Christmas-themed charity auction at Empire Comics in Sacramento. It's 11 AM to 8 PM and, as I understand, you just sit down, draw some comic-like christmas stuff, and they auction it off for Toys for Tots.
It's sort of strange that I come here for 5 months and get more exposure then I ever got in Minnesota. I guess that's California for you...

But I got to do something I've been meaning to do for a LONG time...

Business Cards! Yay!

Other then looking bug-eyed and psychotic... I am ready to kick ass.

Not been drawing a hell of a lot of good stuff lately... hopefully the holidays will get rid of that.

My official "Holidays" Card. This is the second year I've actually done one. Like everyone else in the world, I abhor christmas, so I look to the more optimistic side of celebrating The New Year. I love the song Auld Lang Syne... so I guess it just fits.

I don't personally have a preference for who sings it, but this doesn't sound bad.
Mozes is always the one I draw for the picture too... so weird... Anyways.
I'll take to my tradition of trying to upload it on the stroke of midnight on the 31st...

Look for me at Empire! I'll post pics here later.
